(every week on Friday (-ish) we will have a weekly discussion topic. Any ideas for future discussion? Contact us!)

What parts from Season 1 do you HAVE to see in the movie?
Do you care if these moments are played out the same way, or do you just want them in somehow?

What parts can you truly live without?

I must absolutely see KoiZilla. I don't care if it looks realistic or not, or if it's done exactly the same, I just have to see a giant blue glowing spirit own a bunch of ships. It's going to be the highlight of my movie experience.

Aang also needs to burn Katara. I hope they don't leave that out, it's a bit important to future characterization.

Some Kataang would be cool. XD But I'm kindof a diehard Kataanger, so... that pretty much speaks for itself. It doesn't have to be the moments they had in the series, but if it hints at it in the way Season 1 did, I'll be happy.

I can live without Jet and The Great Divide. I also find Haru kindof pointless, but... Eh.

I say they should just fly on by the Great Divide. XD But Jet IS important in the latter bits of S2, so I have a feeling he'll be there? They can make do without Haru, though it'll be disappointing to not see the mustache in live action come S3. XD
nomonoke on February 13th, 2010 07:22 am (UTC)
Jet's position could be filled by a randomly appearing paranoid kid on a boat.
But, I do kindof get what you're saying... I just wonder how they'd pull it off well?

Why is everyone so obsessed with Haru's mustache? XDDD Is it because it's so sexyfine? :O
Chaka/Carrie: Dr. Horrible; ballswuhdemah on February 13th, 2010 07:25 am (UTC)
It is very sexyfine. But no, I'm obsessed with it because it needs to get together with Sokka's fake beard. :l

The Great Divide = D<

I'm pretty sure the only importance it held was that it was the first time they mentioned Ba Sing Se? SCRATCH THAT, they mentioned Ba Sing Se in 1.06. I'm such a bad Avatard. Screw 1.11 :|
nomonoke on February 13th, 2010 03:23 pm (UTC)
Dude, even I didn't even pay attention to when they first mention stuff. XD You're not a bad Avatard, you're insane. XDDDX

I agree with Crys. You are insane. XD

Well... let's see, I'm not one of those sort of fans who can't handle changes...

But, being a Kataang fan, I have to say that I wouldn't be able to live without Kataang development. I want Noah Ringer to blush at least one time. Because Noaang crush on Nicotara would be so cute!!!
Chaka/Carrie: Firefly; serenity in the skywuhdemah on February 13th, 2010 08:50 pm (UTC)
OMG we do need a Noah Ringer blush. Aang wouldn't be Aang without it!
nomonoke on February 13th, 2010 09:15 pm (UTC)
On that note, would Kataang be the same if Movie!Aang is excessively more serious than Series!Aang? While I'm pretty sure the serious tone is due to marketing right now, I can't help but speculate about what kind of difference it could make to character relations if he was actually as serious as portrayed.

Will our ship be the way we like it, or will it be different to the point that it's just two characters with their names?
Chaka/Carrie: Bones; bb wallwuhdemah on February 13th, 2010 09:17 pm (UTC)
Hmm... this is a good question. I guess we can't really know until we see it, but one scene from the trailer that stood out to me -- when Aang was stuck in the middle of a fight, he was turning around with a confused/horrified expression as though he wasn't expecting the violence. So maybe...? I dunno, I'm not sure what part of the series that was, but I'm hoping that shows a little bit of the innocent!Aang characterization we knew and loved throughout most of season one. :)
light_eco_sage on February 13th, 2010 09:35 pm (UTC)
First, I'm going to answer literally. If Aang were 'excessively' serious. Yes, I do think it would be different. You can't really change Aang's core personality and still call it 'Kataang'. <- This is an opinion. Though Aang does have his serious moments in the show, too much of ANYTHING is a bad thing.

On the other hand, various interviews with M. Night say that he cast Noah Ringer because he had a sincere gentleness that he felt was necessary for a monk destined to save the world.

Further more, the trailers seem to be mostly focused on attracting people who aren't familiar with the show: like the emphasis on action, the music, etc. The serious tone of the trailers could also fall into this category.
snowy5_5: jaseyraesnowy5_5 on February 14th, 2010 02:53 am (UTC)
Since I think Aang's fun-loving, optimistic nature is part of what drew most of us to Kataang...well, me anyway...I'd say not. When you think about it, Aang being serious all the time is pretty much Zuko without a temper. So...that would make Kataang Zutara but a lot more boring. o_o
nomonoke on February 14th, 2010 02:55 am (UTC)
That.. is like the perfect way to put it. XDD
latopher on February 13th, 2010 06:03 pm (UTC)
I want to see Katara develop her powers in some sort of epic-ly way. I would like a repeat of Pakku v.s Katara, but if they decided to do it another way I would be fine with it.

I need to see Godly!Avatar State, the trailer made it seem more like a power-up so hopefully I'm just wrong and the Avatar State will be amazing like it was in Avatar.

I would like to see Ice turn into water and vise-versa.

I would like Kataang be more reciprocated than it was in ATLA. I love it either way, but I guess people wouldn't question Kataang much unlike in ATLA.

I would like to see Teo *cough*. But I can live without.

I WANT TO HEAR THEM SAY AVATAR. REALLY LOUDLY. END.OF.STORY
nomonoke on February 13th, 2010 07:05 pm (UTC)
I agree about the Katara waterbending power development. It would be so weird if she was so bad at the beginning and then suddenly during a fight with Pakku she as awesome. Consitant practice, pls. D:

I really want them to keep the backstory about Katara and her mom. I noticed in the trailer that she does have the necklace, so I'm hoping they do something with it. :3

I'm wondering if they'll keep in the bit with Zuko finding it and Aang getting it back for her.
nomonoke on February 13th, 2010 11:12 pm (UTC)
-approve-

Although, this idea makes me wish we wouldn't have to wait until 3rd movie to see exactly what happened to her mom. x_x Fail.

I'd like to see some Great Divide :|
